Strong and resilient hooves are essential for all horses, especially shod horses in training and regular competition. Good hooves are also important for horses or ponies maintained primarily by barefoot trimming.
Many horses naturally have recurring hoof problems, even on an adequate and well-balanced diet with added supplements. These horses may suffer frequent chips, cracks, splits, crumbling and flaking, or simply grow brittle or insufficient hoof material.
Some breeds of horses have inherently thin soles and weak hoof walls and need a special diet to maintain hoof hardness and flexibility.
Reboot HOOF+ is a dietary supplement containing a range of specially selected nutrients with roles in optimizing hoof strength and condition to grow strong and healthy hooves in horses.
Reboot HOOF + is a targeted hoof supplement with nutrients that are linked to improved keratinisation and bonding strength of the hoof wall and sole, growth and quality of the hoof horn material and overall health of the hooves.
These nutrients may be low, inadequate or poorly absorbed from common equine diets, especially in horses with naturally poor hooves. The nutrients in Reboot HOOF+ also help to optimise coat condition and the growth and fullness of the mane and tail.

Blend of cold-pressed, colour coded Supplet® pellets separated into 3 compatible nutrient groups which ensures the potency and stability of the vitamins (particularly biotin, vitamins A and C) and trace-minerals in the supplement and in the feed.
High level of biotin, combined with synergistic nutrients to enable this important vitamin to work effectively to improve hoof health.
Special ratio of amino acids and high quality protein including essential sulfur-containing amino acids, such as methionine, as well as lysine and threonine.
Extra calcium, phosphorus and magnesium as critical nutrients to assist faster and better quality hoof growth

Why is Reboot HOOF+ better than other hoof supplements?
Reboot HOOF+ has been extensively tested and field trialed with over 100 Aussie horses over a 4 year period. Horse owners signed up to the trial had often used other brands of hoof supplements for their horses’ problems for many years before starting Reboot HOOF+. All horse owners which responded reported that Reboot HOOF+ was “Much Better” compared to previous products used. This is because Reboot HOOF+ has a range of nutrients linked to hoof health, growth and improved quality. Why does the formulation of Reboot HOOF+ help hooves?
Reboot HOOF+ contains a range of nutrients targeted to help hoof growth and quality. Biotin is the best known of vitamins involved directly in the structural integrity and growth of the hoof wall. It has been shown to influence the growth rate of the hoof and is necessary for the optimum elasticity of the hoof wall. Reboot HOOF+ includes 45 mg of biotin per dose (initial supplementation rate). The biotin in Reboot HOOF+ is highly potent, stable and able to work to its full activity (which is not the case in all hoof supplements!). This is because Reboot HOOF+ features the unique, patented Supplet® pellet technology, exclusive to Kohnke’s Own. This system separates nutrients into compatible pelleted groups, protecting important and fragile vitamins, including biotin, vitamin A and C, against damaging interaction with trace-minerals, such as copper, zinc and iron.Reboot HOOF+ contains a source of high quality protein with a range of natural amino acids, supported by a ratio of added amino acids specially formulated to improve the quality of the hoof. These include sulfur-containing amino acids, such as methionine, as well as lysine and threonine. The amino acids are very important to ensure optimal supply of nutrients needed for the important keratin structures of the horn material that are essential for the resilience and wearing capacity of the hoof wall and sole.Reboot HOOF+ supplies extra calcium, phosphorus and magnesium to ensure these critical nutrients are available to quickly grow strong hoof material. What happened on the Reboot HOOF+ trial?
More than 100 horses participated in the extensive field trial over a 4 year period. (n=120). Trial horses had different exercise levels and disciplines, from resting horses to high performance and racing horses.
Horses were signed up to the trial if their owners reported that they had poor hooves for more than 1 year (often for many years). This included weak or brittle hooves and other quality issues such as cracks, crumbling or flaking. Other horses couldn’t maintain shoes or had reduced hoof growth. Some horses had experienced a recent hoof injury that needed resection or caused growth abnormalities.
Horse owners mentioned the following problems with their horse’s hooves during the sign up interview: Poor quality hooves (50%), Can’t hold shoes (17%), Hoof injury (17%), Reduced hoof growth (9%) and Hair or coat quality (7%).
Horse owners were signed up from all states in Australia with many different pastures, feed rations and management strategies for their horse(s). The only thing we asked them to change was to feed Reboot HOOF+ every day. 60% of horse owners fed their horse(s) a well-balanced diet, which indicated that their horse’s hoof problems were due to naturally poor hooves, rather than a diet lacking in essential micronutrients.
Horse owners fed the initial dose for 3 months, then reduced to the maintenance dose over the course of the trial. The first results of Reboot HOOF+ supplementation were seen within 7-10 weeks. Thus, we recommend feeding the initial dose for 2-3 months to maximise primary improvements in the hooves.
What results did the trial of Reboot HOOF+ show?
Horse owners said that Reboot HOOF+ significantly improved the growth, quality and health of their horse’s hooves (average rating 9.3/10 and p<0.01). Horse owners said that Reboot HOOF+ resolved their horse’s hoof issues, such as splits, cracks, crumbling and brittleness, by 90% on average (p<0.01). All horse owners surveyed were “Very Pleased” with how Reboot HOOF+ helped their horse’s hooves.95% farriers which responded told their clients they were “Pleased” or “Very Pleased” with the effects of Reboot HOOF+. 75% of owners surveyed said that Reboot HOOF+ helped their horse’s hooves to grow significantly “Faster” or “Much Faster” than before (p<0.01).Palatability was rated as “Excellent” for all horses and Reboot HOOF+ was “Very Easy” to feed. Over 70% of owners said their horse’s mane and tail became thicker and fuller with Reboot HOOF+.Many horse owners on the trial had previously used other hoof supplements. All rated Reboot HOOF+ as “Much Better” compared to other products used. All horse owners surveyed on the trial said they would purchase Reboot HOOF+!
When can I expect results to show?
Reboot HOOF+ is a potent and concentrated supplement that has been shown in field trials to quickly improve the growth, strength and quality of hooves. The first results of Reboot HOOF+ supplementation were seen within 7-10 weeks. This corresponded to the time period that horse owners fed the initial dose rate of Reboot HOOF+ to their horses. We recommend feeding the initial dose for 2-3 months to maximise the primary improvements in the hooves.On average, horse owners reported that they saw “very noticeable” results after their horses had been receiving Reboot HOOF+ for approximately 4 months. However, as the hoof naturally grows down and replaces horn material at a rate which may take 6 -12 months, initial supplementation may be continued for a full cycle if necessary in horses with very poor hooves.
How long do I need to feed Reboot HOOF+?
We recommend feeding the initial dose for 2-3 months to maximise primary improvements in the hooves. In this time, you should see initial improvements in hoof growth and quality. After that time, you can reduce the amount of Reboot HOOF+ to the maintenance rate to continue the good results from supplementation. However, as the hoof naturally grows down and replaces horn material at a rate which may take 6 – 12 months, initial supplementation may be continued for a full cycle if necessary in horses with very poor hooves. We suggest a maintenance dose rate be continued long term for horses with naturally poor hoof quality. Reboot HOOF+ does not contain any substances which would accumulate or ‘build up’ to negatively affect your horse’s health, even with extended supplementation.
What happens if I stop feeding Reboot HOOF+?
Some horses have naturally poor hooves even when they are feed an adequate and balanced diet. In our extensive research trial, many horse owners saw excellent results with Reboot HOOF+ in resolving hoof issues and quickly improving the growth and strength of their horse’s hooves.
When horse owners stopped feeding Reboot HOOF+, some reported that they saw a regression in the quality of their horse’s hooves after approximately 6 months. We suggest a maintenance dose rate be continued long term for horses with naturally poor hoof quality.
My horse has sensitive hooves. Will Reboot HOOF+ help?
Reboot HOOF+ has been shown in our extensive research field trial to be very beneficial for horses with sensitive hooves. These horses may have thin soles, weak walls and suffer from pain when standing, grazing or riding on hard ground, gravel or bitumen roads, hilly country or in abrasive sand arenas. Reboot HOOF+ helps to improve the stability of the hooves and the quality of the hoof material. Many farriers mentioned that horses on the trial showed increased wall and sole thickness and a more stable, resilient shape of the hooves.
Does Reboot HOOF+ contain any banned substances?
Reboot HOOF+ does not contain any banned substances or contravene the Rules of Racing or FEI Competition. Reboot HOOF+ does not swab and is completely legal to be used with all performance horses in FEI competitions.For use in racehorses, we recommend that you follow local guidelines on use of any supplements within 24 hours of racing.
Is Reboot HOOF+ suitable for sugar-sensitive horses?
Feeding Reboot HOOF+ will not provide extra energy, sugar or starch to the diets of sugar-sensitive horses or ponies. Reboot HOOF+ has been tested with laminitic or EMS horses without any problems and is recommended to be fed to horses suffering from hoof problems in the aftermath of laminitis or founder.
Supplementation Guidelines
Each scoopful provides 60 grams of Reboot HOOF+, mix into the daily feed (wet or dry).
Provide the initial supplementation rate for 60 – 90 days, or as required. 120 g of Reboot HOOF+ daily for horses, or 60 g daily for ponies.
Maintenance supplementation (once satisfactory hoof growth and condition has been achieved) is 60 g of Reboot HOOF+ daily for horses (30 g daily for ponies).
